The Academy is located at the Villa Pandolfini, built in the 1200s by the Medici family as a hunting lodge and sold to the Pandolfini family in the 1300s.
The property includes a number of other structures from the time, such as the stunning tower also used by the school. Villa Pandolfini is known as being the place where Agnolo di Filippo, a dear friend of the Medici, wrote his Treatise on the governing of the family. He later died there in 1446 at the age of 86, his body being buried in the church of San Martino in Gangalandi.
In 1434, the grandson of the family decided to restore the property to its present glory, with architect Bendedetto Rovezzano being commissioned to do so.
